How it works

  1. Pick a market

An industry as Form D files it, a state, and the last 7 or 30 days.

  2. Each filing read

From the SEC's EDGAR: the amount sold, the date of first sale, and how many officers and directors signed.

  3. New money only

Amendments, debt-only offerings, investment funds and filings for old money are left out.

Filings from SEC EDGAR, read again every six hours.

How do I find companies that just raised money?

Read their Form D. A US company selling shares, a SAFE or other securities without registering them, which is almost every private round, files one with the SEC within fifteen days of the first sale. The filing gives the company, its address and industry, the amount offered and sold, the date of first sale and the number of investors. The list above is those filings for the window you pick, so a company on it had new money in the last few weeks, on the record.

How do I find the decision maker at a company that just raised?

The same filing names them. Every Form D lists the company’s executive officers and directors, the people who signed for the money, with the role each holds. Signed in, hedwigai takes each one, finds their work email, checks it is deliverable, and drafts a first email that opens with the raise. The list you made here comes with you.

Why use the filing rather than a funding database?

It is dated and it is primary. A database learns of a round from a press release, if there is one, and many raises never get one. The filing exists for every round sold this way, carries the date the money started arriving, and is public, so a lead built on it can be checked by anyone, including the person you write to.

What does the list leave out?

Amendments, which restate an old raise; offerings of debt only; pooled investment funds raising from their own partners; and filings whose first sale was more than 30 days earlier, which describe old money. A company that is not on the list may still have raised: a priced round can close on other instruments. Absence means nothing was filed this way, not that nothing was raised.
