Rental comps in Claude Desktop, with and without hedwigai
A comp is only as good as its rent and its amenities. Ask an AI assistant for them and it searches the web and writes what it finds. With hedwigai connected, Claude reads the listing itself through realestate-us: every floor plan's rent and every amenity the listing states, in the apartment and in the building.
We gave the same request to each, on the same US listings: the address and the listing's link, which of 19 amenities it has, and the asking rent for each floor plan. Every answer was checked against what the listing page itself says.

realestate-us search and realestate-us detailWhat is on a listing page
A listing keeps its amenities in two lists, the apartment's and the building's, and the rest in the description; it keeps rents in its floor plans. The lists are what a listing feed returns, they are often filed in the wrong place, and the description and the floor plans are where comps go wrong.
Rent
realestate-us gave the rent for all 26 floor plans on 14 listings, inside the range the page prints. The best assistant got 23 and every rent right on 11 listings. A miss is a rent outside the page's range, or a floor plan the listing does not show.
Amenities
Across 40 listings stating 227 amenities, realestate-us found 222 and said 12 were there that the listing does not state. Each assistant named between 129 and 185 the listing does not state, most often an in-unit washer and dryer, air conditioning or a balcony: the amenities that change a rent.
Time and cost
A listing realestate-us has read before answers in about 1.8 seconds; a first read fetches the page and can take up to a minute. Each assistant searches again every time. Per listing, realestate-us costs at most 3.6¢; only Perplexity is cheaper, at 2.5¢, with every rent right on 4 of 14 listings.
Fine print
- Every arm got the same request: the address, the listing's link, the same 19 amenities (8 in the apartment, 11 in the building), and the asking rent for each floor plan. The assistants searched the web through OpenRouter; realestate-us is the program Claude calls when hedwigai is connected.
- Amenities: 40 listings labelled by hand from the text their pages show, each label quoted from the listing. "Said present, listing doesn't say so" means the listing does not state it; some may be true of the building.
- Rent: 14 listings whose page prints its floor plans; a rent counts when it falls inside the page's own range for that number of bedrooms, give or take 3%.
- Time is the median per listing. realestate-us had read most of these listings before, so most answered from what it holds. Gemini timed out on 5 listings, counted as no answer.
- Cost: what OpenRouter charged per listing, median. realestate-us is $0.020 per listing read plus $0.016 when the page has to be fetched through a browser; a search is $0.010 per ZIP code.
- Measured on 8 October 2026.
